The Kyoto City Urban Planning Bureau’s Kyoto Walking Town Promotion Office, JR West Japan Railway Company, and Kyoto Station Building Kaihatsu will install floor signs at the Kyoto Station Central and West Exit ticket gates and inside the ticket gates for the Shinkansen, buses, cabs (Karasuma Exit), and subway platforms.

The Shinkansen ticket gates (blue), bus stops (orange), cabs (gray), and the Karasuma subway line (green) are color-coded with pictograms to indicate the direction of each traffic line, and the same color lines are laid on the floor.

Scheduled to begin on September 25, this will promote smooth connections and transfers for tourists and other visitors, thereby reducing congestion at Kyoto Station and strengthening the station’s transportation nodal function.
