Three NEXCO Companies Reschedule Review of Late-Night Discounts, Temporarily Suspending Maintenance Due to ETC System Failure, Difficult to Start in July

On May 28, the three NEXCO companies announced that the start of operation of the revised late-night expressway discount will be rescheduled from July.

On December 25, 2024, the three companies postponed the start of operation of the new system to around July 2025. However, they are currently suspending the maintenance of the midnight discount system due to a widespread ETC system failure that occurred on April 6 within NEXCO Central Japan’s jurisdiction.

The expected start of operation will be announced at a later date, including the status of the resumption of system maintenance.

A Crisis Management Review Committee has already been established on April 18 to investigate the cause of the ETC system failure and take measures to prevent recurrence, and the contents of the proceedings are available on NEXCO Central Japan’s corporate information website, “Crisis Management Review Committee for Wide-Area ETC System Failures.
