Nagoya Railroad announced the outline of the Meitetsu Nagoya Station Redevelopment Plan. An investment of approximately 320 billion yen is planned.

First, the station facilities will be relocated in FY2033 as the first phase of renewal. The station facilities will be relocated to the south side of the station, across Taikodori Street, to the basement of a building to be constructed as part of the Nagoya Station Area Redevelopment Project, which is being carried out in parallel with the current station facilities. The relocation will eliminate the narrowness of the platforms and concourses, and consolidate ticket gates to clarify their roles.

At this point, the line will operate with the same two tracks as the current line, but will be expanded to four tracks in the second phase of renewal scheduled for the early 2040s. The second phase of renewal, scheduled for the early 2040s, will expand to four lines, with a total of four platforms and an “airport access platform” to make it easier to understand. The concourse will be further expanded and barrier-free access will be enhanced.

After the relocation, the company plans to use the latest technology for guidance equipment and to create an advanced station with an emphasis on design.
