I visited “Osaka Noren Meguri,” the largest food court at the Expo site! Thirteen popular restaurants gathered, including Kukuru’s Takoyaki and Osaka Ohsho!

Among them, the largest food court at the Expo site, “Osaka Noren Meguri: Food and Festival Expo,” with approximately 1,000 seats in an area of approximately 2,000 m2, will feature a total of 13 stores (including one event store that will change every two weeks), all of which are long-standing and popular local Osaka restaurants.

In addition to domestic and international pavilions, there are many restaurants, cafes, and food vendors scattered throughout the expo site, which is approximately 155 hectares in size.

On April 13, the Osaka-Kansai Expo (EXPO 2025) will open in Yumeshima, Osaka. Here we report on scenes from the media day held prior to the opening of the Expo.

Event store that changes

In addition to the familiar menu items from each restaurant, there is also a lineup of limited-edition menu items available only at the Expo. For example, Osaka Ohsho’s menu features dishes using Japanese beef, such as “Fried rice with egg” (2,500 yen), which is a popular fried rice dish topped with a generous portion of grilled Osaka black beef, and “Matsusaka beef” Wagyu sukiyaki gyoza (2,300 yen), which features sliced Matsusaka beef in the gyoza filling and is topped with Matsusaka beef yakishabu (grilled beef). (2,300 yen), etc. The restaurant also offers reasonably priced regular menu items such as “Ganso Yaki Gyoza” (490 yen for 6 pieces) and “Gomoku Fried Rice” (800 yen).

Other restaurants that are sure to be enjoyed by people of all ages include “Takoya Dotonbori Kukuru,” popular for its takoyaki (octopus dumplings) made with fluffy batter and plump large octopus balls; “Yakiniku Dotonbori Mitsuru,” where you can enjoy a yakiniku bowl using whole whole Japanese black beef; “Negi-yaki Yamamoto,” the origin of negi-yaki established in Yodogawa in 1965; and “Lapoppo Farm,” which serves sweet potato sweets, among other delicacies. Incidentally, the food court is a next-generation restaurant model where robots and people work together. Visitors can experience the technology of Japanese companies, such as catering robots and seats with cushions that suggest menu recommendations based on heart rate. Seating options include tables, stands, counter seats, and open-air terrace seats, but those who want to be sure of a seat can take advantage of the “same-day reserved seat reservation” (550 yen per seat for 50 minutes, including 340 mL of Irohasu and original goods).

Located outside the large roof ring in the “West Gate Zone”. Hours of operation are 9:00 – 21:00.
