Odakyu Hakone will begin operating the windowless open-air gondola “ROPESTER” to commemorate the 65th anniversary of the Hakone Ropeway, which will be in full operation in September.

This is the first open-air gondola operation on a regular cableway in Japan, and the operation is limited to a one-way trip from Togendai Station to Owakudani Station. Riders must be at least 12 years old, and a maximum of eight people per ride must make reservations in advance. The fare is 5,000 yen per person, or 2,500 yen if you have a Hakone Free Pass or other special ticket. Reservations can be made on the Hakone Navi special page from 12:00 p.m. on February 20.

The tour will run for five days from March 10 to 14, and for approximately 50 days from April to September.
