Itami Airport to unify its English name to “Osaka Itami Airport” from now on. This is to prevent confusion with KIX by inbound passengers.

On January 30, Kansai Airport announced that it will use and recommend the English name for Osaka International Airport (Itami Airport) as “Osaka Itami Airport” in the future.

However, with the increase in the number of inbound passengers to the Kansai region, it has been confirmed that the word “International” has been confused with Kansai International Airport (KIX). The change is intended to reduce the risk of mistaking the airport for Kansai International Airport (KIX).

The company plans to give priority to the use of “Osaka Itami Airport” on the official website and in other media for foreign readers. The same will also apply to the use of non-English words (Korean, Chinese, etc.).
