IHG Hotels & Resorts has set January 29, 2025 as the opening date for the Holiday Inn Kyoto Gojo (179 Higashikazariya-cho, Shimogyo-ku, Kyoto).

Kyoto is the location where Japan’s first “Holiday Inn” opened in 1973, and this will be the first revival in about 50 years.

The hotel is a two-minute walk from Gojo Station on the subway Karasuma Line and within walking distance of Higashi-Honganji Temple, Kamo River, Kiyomizu Temple, Nishiki Market, and other tourist attractions.

In addition to 183 brightly colored guest rooms, the hotel has a restaurant, café, gym, five banquet halls, a large bath on the top floor overlooking Kyoto Tower, and parking facilities.

In addition, as a benefit unique to the Holiday Inn brand, the hotel will offer “Kids Stay and Eat Free,” which allows children ages 12 and under to stay and eat for free.
