International Emergency Relief Aid for Flood and Landslide Damage in the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka

In response to a request from the government of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) will provide emergency relief supplies as follows.

The rainfall caused by a low-pressure system in the southeastern Bay of Bengal on November 23 caused extensive human and material damage in the affected areas.

Damage as of December 3 (as announced by the Sri Lankan government)

Death toll: 18

Injured 19 people

Affected 468,732 people

Totally destroyed 107 houses

Houses partially destroyed 2,613
