Mobile Passport Control (MPC) is a service that allows eligible travelers to submit travel documents, photos, and customs declaration information using an app. The app is free of charge.

Using MPC to answer the questions you will be asked at immigration in advance will streamline the process of entering the U.S. and reduce the waiting time and screening time at immigration. You may even feel better about minimizing the need to communicate in English.

What are the benefits?

  1. a U.S. citizen 2. a U.S. permanent resident 3. a Canadian citizen holding a U.S. B1/B2 visa 4. a tourist traveling under ESTA (Visa Waiver Program) for the second time or later

important point

As stated in the terms and conditions, it is not available to those who are entering the U.S. for the first time after applying for ESTA.

The app is available in English only.

・Need a smartphone or other device that can communicate at the arrival point (the app will need to be operated at the airport upon arrival, such as taking and sending a photo of your face, before immigration).

Before departure, check if your destination is one of the airports covered by the app (Daniel K. Inouye International Airport in Hawaii is available).

To check, simply go to “Where can eligible travelers use MPC?” on the MPC introduction page or “View Supported Location” that appears at the bottom of the first screen of the application.

Passport required even if MPC is utilized.
